Anonymous Tip on using Aloe on wounds 0 Mar 23 2009, 1:59 PM EDT by Anonymous

I was cutting a vent-hole in the side of my house using a diamond saw to cut through the concrete. The powdered concrete-dust mixed with sweat from my hands and severly damaged the skin on both hands. (concrete being corrosive...ie an acid)

The flesh between my fingers was raw for days and showed no sign of healing whatsoever. My alopathic GP prescribed $50.00 worth of Rx cremes with steroids etc. The 'medicine' did nothing at all and after two weeks of treatment my hands were still open wounds. I was getting scared because of the lack of healing. The would looked as freash as day one.
Finaly a friend reminded mr that Aloe is good for lacerations and chemical burns not just sunburn.
I cut some fronds and niped of the spikes then slit the fronds lengthwise and spayed them out like a hotdog bun. I wrapped these like a poultice around the wounds and wore gloves overnight to keep them in place. Wow! I could not believe how much improvement there was overnight. In one day the wounds had closed and on the second day they looked like a three day old scab. There was an amazing stabiliization of the wound and it began to heal normally after that. (mind you the damage was so severe that the skin seemed delicate for more than 18 months.
I heartily recomend that if you want use Aloe on your skin don't buy a crappy gel or scoop the meat out a live frond. Use the whole frond. The plant's skin remains alive and helps the healing process. After 8 hours as a poultice all of the meat of the plant had absorbed into me and all that was left was the skin.
